Furthermore, their speed relates to the screen region, not the level, so they seemed to move faster as you progress to the right. These were basically sprites that glide along the bottom with absolutely no animation whatsoever and look more like buffalo than wildebeast. Most notably, on the MS2, the Stampede level was basically Simba jumping ledges and avoiding landing in front of the wildebeast.
